One year ago, in 2014 the Old Homestead garden group took on another challenge, a half green at the Bowling Club, 25 Dignan Street.

TT Pt Chev community garden group has responded to the generous call from the Bowling Club (25 Dignan Street) who is providing a half green (1000m2) for gardening. a soil test revealed that the soil is safe to garden and the group is now establishing a community garden hub beyond planting food.

On 21.8.2014 our Community garden group had another successful working bee, creating a bamboo structure for climbers/vines, making another lot of compost and of course slashing all those healthy nitrogen-fixing plants for the next growing season.

On 26 May 2013, we had a small gathering in beautiful weather to celebrate the revamping of the community garden with the help of the Eden-Albert Local Board Community Garden Grant and the Mt Albert Baptist Church working bee. Guest of honour, Darma from the Mt Albert Baptists, immediately saw potential for a new little project he'd be happy to help to build. Watch the spot, we're going posh!

We trialled three x two rows of approximately 36 garlics in each trial. The organic fertilizers we used were: pony poo, worm wee and sheep pellets.
