Thanks to those that came along to farewell Hayden from the Bowling Club last Tuesday. Hayden – ngā mihi nui for being such a friendly face and supporter of our māra. We hope to see you again.
Unfortunately due to some much-needed rain our fermentation workshop and pizza event today is postponed. New date: Sunday 23rd Feb, workshop 11-12 and pizza 12-2pm.
It’s been lovely seeing many of you wander back into the māra after a (hopefully) restful time away. If you’re an old friend of the garden and haven’t visited in a while, now is an amazing time to pop in and soak up the mauri that your hard work over the years has contributed to.
Kia ora koutou, e ngā mihi o te tau hou Pākehā! Happy New Year to you all.
Raumati is well upon us, with cicadas marking the middle of our warm season and Point Chev beach packed with sunbathing families every day. While the Western calendar sees now as a new year, the lunar measure of time in Aotearoa places us smack bang in our most energetic, productive time. Let’s make hay (or grow kai) while the sun shines!
Before we get into the mahi, let’s shout out to our incredible watering volunteers. Your regular care and commitment to the māra has enabled many of us to step away knowing that our veggie babies are taken care of. We love and appreciate your generous spirit.
This is our final newsletter for the year, so it’s only fitting to celebrate the mahi we’ve done together over the last 12 months! Read on for an incredible list of joyful achievements.
Ka nui te mihi atu ki a koutou! Our watering roster is just about full, and our many seedlings planted this month will be able to thrive thanks to our fabulous community 💚 We only need one person to fill a spot on the week beginning Jan 20th – if that’s you, please let us know!
Pizza, friends, high mauri conversations – thanks for joining us in the māra today for our final pizza event of the year. Here’s to an awesome productive week of high energy moons and stellar weather!
What a treat it’s been to have much needed rain washing over the māra. The soils are full of moisture again and everything is standing upright happily photosynthesising. Also, check out the surprise taewa (pic above) found in the yaćon bed!
