Hands-on learning for sustainable land use

Weekend Course
at Riverside Community near Motueka on Nov 22/23

Earthcare Education Aotearoa

Curious how we may solve the challenges of tomorrow? Permaculture is an integrated land use design methodology based on ecological principles, with practical application from sustainable household to eco-nation to global restoration.

In this two-day course we will show you the different approaches to designing a Permaculture garden that will work for you. You will have the opportunity to get your hands dirty learning the nature of soil, soil preparations, composting techniques, soil testing, and the relationship between soil, plants and animals. The second day will cover garden layout, design, preparation, the different types of gardens, plant health, weed management and seed propagation.

This weekend is part of the new Modular Permaculture Design Course ‘Top of the South'. This is divided into 12 modules and held during nine weekends from October 2008 to June 2009 in Nelson Province. All modules include hands-on projects to build peoples’ practical skills, to enhance learning, and to have fun!
