Introduction

Port Chalmers

Port Chalmers is a vibrant community located about 10 km from the centre of Dunedin, population around 3000.  As well as being the main port for Dunedin city, it has a thriving arts scene and is home to a host of community-driven projects.  These include: a successful community gardens; the "Bags Not" campaign to rid the West Harbour of plastic bags; community fundraising quiz nights; ping pong political evenings and many more.  In 2009 we decided that it'd be great to put these things together under the Transiti » Read more

Urgent - letter to ODT supporting public transport

Hi all I was hugely heartened by Phillip Cole's piece in the ODT yesterday, and thought it would be well worth our supporting it. I have drafted a letter to the editor. If you are interested, could you please add your name to it, copied below and send back to me by tomorrow morning. Wednesday. You don't have to be a PCTT local, as I've added the word 'supporter' and anyway this is a city-wide issue. It would be good to get feedback on the letter too - has been drafted in a bit of a hurry but think the most important thing is to get its message out there asap. Regards Nicky

PCTT pot-luck tea

Come along to a pot-luck tea, to chat, eat, drink, and catch up with Frank Budding, who was involved with the first 'official' transition town, Totnes, in the UK.  Kids most welcome too.

Everyone very welcome, whether you are living out in Port or just a friendly supporter from anywhere at all!

It will be the last get-together of the year, so plan is just to have fun and maybe throw in some ideas of just how exactly glorious - and resilient - we want our place to be.

Dunedin public transport questionnaire responses

Please find attached the responses to our questionnaire on public transport. Warning - it's quite long! But interesting to see how much priority people are putting on climate change - and a fair proportion did answer.
