Train Day
Step Right Up Folks! Port Chalmers Upper Train Station Opens For You!
The Port Chalmers Transition Group and the "Get the Train" campaigners have worked together to reopen Port Chalmers Upper Train Station for next months Walk2Work day, March 10th. As far as we know, this is the first time the station will have been used since the 1970s. See our news article here. Rumour has it that there will be snazzily dressed Station Agents, a lemonade stall, and shoe-shining. Everyone is invited to wear their finest travelling attire.
Festivities begin at 7.45am, with an estimated departure from Port Chalmers Upper (located off Ajax St near the Church) at 8am. There’s even a scheme involving a coffee-purveying van… Bring a few dollars and see if those happy rumours come true.
Estimated arrival time at the Dunedin Railway Station is 8.40am. For the return journey, departure from Dunedin Railway Station is at 5.30pm. Tickets are available on the train. A carriage for bikes will be provided.
Bring your friends and family along for the best ride to work ever! Remember, spiffy outfits, especially vintage hats, are encouraged.
