Urgent - letter to ODT supporting public transport
Submitted by Nicky Chapman on 30 November 2010 - 6:48pm | Local newsHi all I was hugely heartened by Phillip Cole's piece in the ODT yesterday, and thought it would be well worth our supporting it. I have drafted a letter to the editor. If you are interested, could you please add your name to it, copied below and send back to me by tomorrow morning. Wednesday. You don't have to be a PCTT local, as I've added the word 'supporter' and anyway this is a city-wide issue. It would be good to get feedback on the letter too - has been drafted in a bit of a hurry but think the most important thing is to get its message out there asap. Regards Nicky
PCTT pot-luck tea
Submitted by Nicky Chapman on 3 November 2010 - 7:25pm | EventCome along to a pot-luck tea, to chat, eat, drink, and catch up with Frank Budding, who was involved with the first 'official' transition town, Totnes, in the UK. Kids most welcome too.
Everyone very welcome, whether you are living out in Port or just a friendly supporter from anywhere at all!
It will be the last get-together of the year, so plan is just to have fun and maybe throw in some ideas of just how exactly glorious - and resilient - we want our place to be.

Dunedin public transport questionnaire responses
Submitted by Nicky Chapman on 22 September 2010 - 2:50pm | updated 25 Sep 2010 | Local newsPlease find attached the responses to our questionnaire on public transport. Warning - it's quite long! But interesting to see how much priority people are putting on climate change - and a fair proportion did answer.

Public transport meeting - creating a new vision for Otago
Submitted by Nicky Chapman on 18 June 2010 - 6:18am | EventPublic transport is of major importance to our community's wellbeing. At the moment it is difficult to live a low carbon lifestyle in Port Chalmers, given the high cost and infrequent times of the bus service. We therefore plan to put in a submission to the ORC about these issues.
However, our community's particular problems come from a transportation approach that prioritises cars. We want to start a conversation about a new vision for Otago that puts bikes and shared transport (bus, train, tram, ferry) at the centre, not individual cars.
Please come along and join in!
