Steering Group Meeting Minutes – 7pm-9pm, Thursday 3rd April 2008

1 Goal of steering group:

A six-month timeframe was agreed for the current steering group to raise awareness, with the aim of being able to launch a Great Unleashing in September 2008. In any case if insufficient momentum for a Great Unleashing the group will review its goals, plans and membership in September.

  • To establish and implement an awareness raising plan over next 6 months – Steering Group Members
2 What are the boundaries for TT Brooklyn?

It was agreed to not define the boundaries of TT Brooklyn at this point in time and to welcome anyone to attend the meetings who wished to.

  • Belinda to advise the Aro valley residents that they are welcome to join our meetings.
3 Frequency of meetings:

It was agreed that the steering group should meet once a month and that general/public awareness raising meetings should also be held monthly (alternating with the steering group meetings). Dates were agreed as below.

4 Public meeting dates:

(Wednesday evenings 7pm – 9pm)

  • 23rd April
  • 21st May
  • 18th June
  • 16th July
  • 20th August
  • 17th September – Goal to hold “The Great Unleashing”

  • 7th August
  • 4th September
  • Belinda to check that the public meeting dates do not clash with any other local/public meetings before we confirm dates.
  • Tom to look at setting up an online calendar.

  • Tom to prepare an email to send out with flyer to BTT email group (and asking them to invite other people), and electronic registration page.

  • Belinda to arrange a speaker preferably from Kapiti TT
  • Dawn to book venue – Brooklyn Community Centre
  • Tom has prepared flyer using Barbara’s draft logo
  • Tom has e-mailed ttbrooklyn and set up registration page

7 Journalism student:

A journalism student has expressed interest in getting involved with Brooklyn TT. It was agreed that they should be invited to get involved in particular they might be able to assist with PR and promotion.

  • Belinda to contact journalism student.

8 Useful names and contacts:

It was agreed to start to collate a list of useful contacts and community groups.

  • Barbara to collate list of useful contacts please provide details to her.
9 Transition Town status:

It was agreed to discuss obtaining official Transition Town status further at the next meeting.

  • All steering group members to (re) read the TT primer before the next meeting to ensure understand what obtaining official TT status means.
