Post-Meeting Catchup

After expenses we have $52.20 koha left (the first time we've had excess). Tom to note expenses from last meeting.

Feedback from Jayne who talked to the people around her at the meeting: most people came for the topic (which was permaculture). One person who knew about permaculture already didn't learn anything new from Andrew's talk but was inspired by the movie on Cuba.

Tom followed up on suggestion of stall at Brooklyn Market on 31st May. Decision to postpone until the 28th June (noted on agenda for next meeting).

Alternative venues which could be investigated for future meetings are the Korean Church hall, Brooklyn Resource Centre, and Brooklyn School hall.

Must remember to vacuum room after meeting and to bring camera!

Tom has set the TTBrooklyn mailing list to moderated--i.e. messages need to be approved before they will be posted to the list. In general he thinks the list has been going well but this will prevent the occasional message which isn't adding value and people responding to the list when an individual is more appropriate.

Playcentre is another strong networking group in Brooklyn which could be tapped in the future.

Workload distribution of the steering group members was discussed. Dawn has been approached by another volunteer, Debbie. Dawn to ask what she can offer.

Fiona

We met with Fiona, a Communications Manager, gave her info on Transition Towns and discussed her ideas about communications.

We need a mission statement.

We need a TT Brooklyn handout.

We don't want to be branded as a 'green' group as Transition Towns are more than this.

'Teaching, not preaching'

Steering group will meet with Fiona for a couple of hours to plan this. Tom to send e-mail.

Fiona will help with some future communications.
