350 Aotearoa Bill McKibben Tour 2009 - WANAKA Appearance 1

Straight from the coal-face of international climate activism and negotiations, Professor Bill McKibben (author, educator, environmentalist) is visiting New Zealand on a whirlwind tour - catch him while you can!

McKibben will be giving TWO public addresses in Wanaka, both of which are part of the Lake Wanaka Festival of Colour. The first of these will be made with New Zealander Gareth Renowden (author of Hot Topic - Global Warming and the Future of New Zealand - you can visit his blog here) and will be focused on the impacts of global warming.

McKibben is the founder 350.org*, a rapidly growing global movement raising awareness about, and action on, climate change issues. He's also the guy Al Gore relied on as the stimulus for An Inconvenient Truth.

350 is preparing for massive global actions on October 24th in the lead up to what many have called the most important international negotiations ever - the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December. Climate science tells us that unless we can reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to 350 parts per million, we will cause huge and irreversible damage to the earth.
