  • Used to form Masterton Interest Group
  • Primers should be present
  • Judith to contact Robyn Bracy & Chris Peterson & Helen/Ian

Activities Night

  • Ask for donation
  • Form the basis for subgroups
  • Robin to run
  • Ask where people are from, if mostly carterton, give people the option to join carterton groups or split off and have their own town discussions.
  • People will arrive with topics in their minds, e.g. garden workshops, verge fruit trees, cycle paths
  • Email this weekend by Robin
  • PHO have funding for community gardens
  • Helen will bring some seeds
  • Everyone to think about something fun!
  • Sonia to call school about using the Staff Room

Strategic Plan to Raise Awareness In Wairarapa

1) Website

2) Articles - revise strategy and get articles in print!

  • Crier article we need to get ready for the next one, coverage about action night, films coming up etc

Possibilities:

  • book event follow up article, with introduction to opening date
  • why the community is so important to being green - let's find out about more
  • newspaper of the future articles - idea from Heather & Sonia
  • day in the life of someone living sustainably
  • living without a car - what's it like?
  • Sonia will follow-up with Piers about a general article

3) REAP

4) Local Films Reports - follow-up reports, Mstn & Gtn

  • A greytown film sometime in about 4 to 6 weeks
  • One Man, One Cow, One Planet - possible?
  • Real Dirt on Farmer John?
  • The Take
  • Visionaries - permaculture people etc

5) Presentations or Stalls in conjunction with other organisations

  • Helen will contact M Woodcock about coming along on Monday the 19th

Money

  • Book event venue needs to be paid - donation of $30, possibly ask about using the window for a display
  • Thanks to CDC for tables and chairs - judith will write a letter of thanks
  • Transition book bought for the TTW library out of funds $50.30
  • Mary Clare-Mabon has offered to be treasurer
  • Need to send a donation to South End School, suggest we pass on $10 koha

Books and Resources - set of Climate Change DVD's for library

  • There was a recommendation about a set of Climate Change DVD's on the NZTT mailing list
  • Group to look at the email, Sonia will forward on to Robin
  • Dave Hopkins offered a removable drive for $150 with lots and lots of films on it, Helen to ask for list

Resource/education centre for Carterton

  • Sonia has an idea to create a model sustainable house using community labour as a learning opportunity.
  • House is available up belvedere road, on a one or half acre section
  • Sonia will continue to create a business plan
  • we would need to find money

Richard Heinberg's 10 point plan

  • Sonia to forward on newsletter to steering committee

Submissions to Council

  • We need to plan something after the activity night
  • Also, the council is accepting submissions regarding council plan

Neighbourliness grants

$100,000 for relevant projects
