SC Meetings Notes 12 Apr 2008

Future meeting times

  • To simplify planning, we decided that we will meet every second Saturday at 9am starting 26 April
  • If a wash-up meeting is needed after the film, we will arrange on the film night (14 Apr)

What next?

  • Ideas were discussed about future events, including another film and a discussion night
  • A local film (Carterton) will be screened 5th May or week of the 5th of May, possibly at the South End School
  • An awareness and planning night planned for the week of the 19th of May, possibly at the South End School
  • These events to be mentioned at film night on the 14th

Strategic Plan to Raise Awareness In Wairarapa

1) Website

  • Robin will pay for and register a better address for the group

2) Articles

  • Article did not appear to make into Crier, not sure why
  • Coverage in the WaiNews for the film is great, thanks Sonia
  • Another article for the WaiNews for the nest film night will be prepared by Sonia

3) REAP

  • Film is tomorrow night!
  • Robin to print transition town interview, signup sheets, leaflets to bring along
  • We will ring some more people to encourage attendance

4) Local Films

  • Yesterday's Future showing in Carterton, possibly in Greytown as well
    • Steering Committee to review film and promote as soon as possible for the night of the 5th of May
    • Film description is: This is yesterday's future.... the moment we have been waiting for imagining, and creating with our thoughts words deeds fears hopes and desires.
    • Venue: South end school, hall, staff room, classrooms are available
    • Backup: Area behind information centre is available
    • Sonia to ask about projector availability and find cost
    • Robin to produce a flyer in colour and forward to Judith to print and distribute
    • Sonia will do a release for the newspaper and for the school newsletter

5) Presentations or Stalls in conjunction with other organisations

  • Keith Locke mentioned transition towns at the Greens thing, also people took flyers - a success!

6) Email signature / Slogan

  • Steering Committee members to use the signature on the bottom of emails

7) Flyers and Posters

  • Robin to create yesterday's future poster
  • Robin to circulate location of masters to group

8) Mailing lists

  • A mailout should be sent after the film
  • What do we send them?

Money

  • We need a bank account - kiwibank
  • Keep track of money somehow - spreadsheet
  • grants - what do we need to do?
  • Judith also offers some money if we need it
