Agenda items
- March 12 & 13 - in the library, Auckland City Council on What does the future hold for Pt Chev?
- Heidi & Yolanda composed/collected 'loving words' about the use of The Old Homestead from PCTT for Sandra
- Regional Environmental hui - Ecomatters Enviro Trust to consider the new operating environment under the Supercity. Organisations are invited to present on their behalf - to send a paragraph explaining who they are, where they are & what they do. From this, since some interest was shown but nothing concrete emerged, came a discussion about the possibility of the development of an interest group around political lobbying. Anyone who would be willing to be part of this group can contact Deryn.

Niki talked to the issue of the Purchasing Group. All TPC members had been invited to an open discussion of the purchasing group, but only three people attended, so we then had an in-depth discussion of why the purchasing group has been difficult to establish, despite (in our opinions) purchasing being a core function of TPC's overall aim to provide structures that allow people to live more consistently with our values. We also discussed TPC in general, our overall aims and how best to meet them, given people's limited time and the hard work involved in setting up new structures. It was suggested that we have another attempt at a purchasing discussion, which hopefully more people will attend and that we also undertake a review of TPC's direction and function. The dates for these will be advised.
The meeting then discussed the progress of initiatives such as this.
- Niki passed round flyers about two Western Springs College students' initiative - Motion-in-the-Ocean - Meiola & Motion Creeks' cleanup, Sunday March 14 10am-2pm a family event - a free tram ride, talks from MOTAT, Waicare, a government official (!) and others. Meet at the Western Springs College carpark with rubbish bags brought from home but gloves will be provided. RSVP to motion.ocean@hotmail.com
- Deryn spoke about a material 'Thankyou' for Heidi & Logan's hard work and financial contribution to the success of the corn harvest. Warmly supported [but since politely refused by H&L - instead suggesting that people offer assistance with their charcoal preparation - anybody with knowledge here?].
- Ellen proposed (again) making an application to the Community Advisory Board - Western Bays, for a SLIPS (Slow Local Improvement Project) funding since there is money for assets (not operations) which PCTT may benefit from in building resources for activities such as, e.g. community gardens or food co-op. The possibility of a subgroup to work on this, set up a meeting with the Community Advisor to see what funding may be available was discussed. Anyone interested to contact Ellen.
- Yolanda, in her role of Communications Manager (!) is to put up posters advertising TTPC around the neighbourhood.
- Niki presented a questionnaire developed as part of her student's research into the Transition Town movement in Auckland, and we each took a copy away to go through what will be a really valuable piece of feedback for us. Any people who weren't at the meeting but who would also like to take part (it is fascinating & not the least bit onerous), please contact Niki asap.
