Transition Pt Chevalier - Meeting 7/10/10

Present: Deryn, Keith, Niki, Jenny, Gabrielle

Keith has met with Kerry-Ann at the Organic shop and she is very open to us meeting there, ideally on Tuesday night. We liked this idea, so Keith to pursue. Keith has also raised the possibility of getting bulk orders through the shop.

Next year meetings will be on the second Tuesday of the month, starting on February 8th. Niki to send an email to Bruce to circulate to members for confirmation.

Keith has located avocados and is interested in offering them to the purchasing group.

Niki will do an invitation for people to join a purchasing email network next year. This will be in conjunction with the purchasing calendar. A draft to be presented at the next meeting.

The library display was put together by Bruce, Yolanda, Deryn and Niki last Friday. This advertises 10/10/10 events including a beach clean-up in Pt Chev. It included several books as well. Niki and Deryn to put together vegetables to take to the library as a thank you on Friday.

UNITEC environmental sustainability strategy (raised by Deryn) – both Geoff and Yolanda are on the group. One of the strategy’s aims is to work with community groups – so watch this space!

Garden group (Jenny) – held a good meeting at Heidi’s place. Two new people turned up. Jenny also went to a biodynamic garden group held in Westmere.

Niki to present her Transition Town research comparing responses from three different groups at the next meeting.

Organising a Christmas gathering at next meeting.

A possible proposal is to have a specific speakers or events once every two months that would be part of the monthly meeting. This is something we can discuss next year.

Resource pool on the website of things to share – Jenny to organise with Guido, and will report back at the next meeting.

NOTE: Gareth Hughes will be speaking at the November meeting.  His topic is the CBD rail loop.
