Minutes of Transition Point Chevalier - 14 June 2011

Eva’s presentation – Eva shared her proposal for spreading out the high density areas in Pt Chevalier along Pt Chevalier Rd and making it more walkable and safer for cycling with a variety of initiatives. Her emphasis particularly concerned making the suburb better for women. For more details go to: www.itsmybackyard.co.nz. Plastics  - Keren has instigated the soft plastic recycling scheme at Pt Chevalier School, you can drop plastics to her (Yolanda will supply details when it is all underway). Pasadena Intermediate is also looking into the scheme, Martin Ball has been in touch with Enviroreel to investigate it further.

Paper recycling – This is available at Pasadena Intermediate – drop off between 8-9 and 2.30-3.30 each week day (straight into the cage) or put beside the cage at any time. 

Music – On Sunday we had our first music session, with a focus on rhythm and singing and a shared afternoon tea. Perhaps we should have them every change of season, or organise a flash mob. Francisco suggested that our next one could perhaps focus on melody.

White roof project – Liadan got the newsletter from Ian who organises the project, she will send it to Bruce to circulate to the group and we can discuss it in the future.

Green pen – Robyn showed a green pen that can be recycled and refilled.

Green campus for Waitakere Unitec – Geoff asked for ideas for spending $11,000 on eco-initiatives for this campus – white roofs was suggested.
