"Rates, Resilience and Energy: shrinking resources and economic turmoil as challenges for local government"

The controversies surrounding the stadium, the Otago Rugby Football Union, and rates, at the same time as the city's Economic Development Strategy is being drafted, provide ample context for this forum. Three panelists will join world renowned Canadian financial analyst and energy industry consultant Nicole Foss for a discussion moderated by Professor Hugh Campbell. What do we do with our collective resources and how best can we harness them to provide greater resilience in our city? Will we become a centre for green technology, or struggle in a brown tech future? Spaces will be limited in Archway 4 Lecture Theatre, so get there early.

Panelists include Stephen Hill (Associate Professor of environmental and resource studies at Trent University, Canada), Cr Jinty MacTavish (Dunedin City Council) and Louis Chambers (of Generation Zero which is building a youth movement to enourage mitigation efforts by national and local governments).
This event is hosted by the Centre for Sustainability: Agriculture, Food, Energy, Environment, with the Blueskin Resilient Communities Trust.
