Report from University Masters students
Final report to be presented next month. General urban stream profile tp be presented, then a profile of Meola Creek.
Case studies presented – twin streams and others.
The Central interceptor witll remove 80% of the sewage overflows into the creek. There is a “Friends of Meola Creek group – will get a list of other groups working on Meola.
Sugercane Paper
Presentation on “Canefields paper” (attached with these minutes).
Community Market: Walter to look at doing the next Community Market – perhaps with help from Yolanda.
Fruit Trees: Albert-Eden local board has plans for eight parks to have fruit trees but none of the parks are in Point Chev so we can not take on another park at the moment. Adrian is still trying to make contact with Simon Cook who gave permission for Premier Reserve.
Anna wants to create a flyer about planting on berms. The Council may be about to stop mowing the berms.
Adrian has offered to do a talk about winter planting.
Auckland Council events: “Transitional Town hui 12 May at Grey Lynn. First time all the TT groups gathered. Lots of people there. Yolanda facilitated a group looking at low key TT groups, as opposed to the high power Grey Lynn/ Mt Eden groups.

Adrian facilitated a group looking at food forests, community gardens, fruit trees in parks.

Living economies:. Sarah talked to Peter Leviten about setting up a community savings pool. Living Economies website (LE.org.nz) says how these savings pools work.
June 13 is Living Economies AGM – havng a public night. Sarah definitely going to this – they teach how they work by playing a game.
Community Garden: Major working bee at the garden. Mt Albert Baptist Church arrived en masse as volunteers. It ended up being on a Saturday and Sunday. A loit got done. Major transformation. $200 grant got from local council. Friday at 3, Sunday at 2 the current meeting times. Gardens now on Facebook. http://www.facebook.com/TTPtChevSatDanceWalkAndFlashmob.
Meeting location: Group keen to do meetings at Springs of Life Church. The Council will pay for it. Need to think about a sign we can put out on the street. Sarah googled on her phone to check out the church as some people concerned about linking to a church. The Community Centre was revisited as an idea again.
Media: Will try to get media/local paper to come to our next working bee to promote our group.
Bruce to call local newspaper to advertise our meetings in the “Whats On” section.
We have started a phone list so we can get in contact with each other more easily.
