Minutes of Transition Pt. Chevalier Meeting - 13 August 2013

Meeting opened with waiata

Ally would like help with TT stall at Community market on August 24th

Action:  Anne and Adrian may be able to help – will contact Ally other volunteers would be helpful

3.

Marketing group

Bruce showed beta version of “about me page.”  About me is just an on-line business card. Has a brief description of group and gives links to web site, Face Book and other social media we may deliver.  Now plan to develop Transition Pt Chevalier Facebook page – will bring back to group for sign off

4.

Fruit trees – Albert Eden plan

Auckland Council is planning to plant fruit trees in the Albert Eden area. We are not aware of any plantings planned in Pt Chev – perceived disconnect between council and community

5.

Mary Jayne Rust ecopsychologist coming to NZ  will be at Heart Politics to be held at Huia in second week of January

Ecopsychology is an emerging field weaving together the ecological, psychological, political and spiritual.

6.

Niki reported that she had been invited to meeting to discuss Auckland Council Auckland Energy Resilience and Low Carbon Action plan.

Possibility of meetings (using a game structure) in the community to start conversations about how we can transition to a low carbon, low energy society.

7.

Volunteer for host role at monthly meetings.  Role will be to open up and provide refreshments.  To be shared among group.

Action: Terrance volunteered for September meeting.  Volunteers sought for October and November

There has been a “guerilla planting” of fruit trees in Alberta Ave

Transition Pt Chev was well represented in shrub planting working bee on eastern side of Meola creek opposite Moa Reserve

Tery Collins, Professor of green chemistry at Carnagie Mellon, alumni from University of Auckland is developing “green chemistry’ to clean up polluted waterways:
