1. Home-made notebooks and Self and World Samples of the notebooks were passed around and a flyer for the Self and World Radical Ecopsychology in Action series of weekends.
2. Fruit trees Adrian has been talking to Margie Watson from the council about fruit trees. Adrian will go to a local board meeting to discuss getting fruit trees in Pt Chev. Niki, Ally and Anna will go to the meeting as well if the time works. Western Bay of Plenty, Christchurch and Wellington have “enabling” policies that it would be good to research before the board meeting.
3. Community garden Getting some produce. There is a working bee this Saturday from 9 -12 with a shared lunch afterwards. All welcome. Anna is going to be transplanting some edible flowers into the garden.
4. Community market On this Saturday from 9 – 1pm at the Huia Rd Community Centre, but we aren’t participating this time around due to a few communication hiccups.
5. Trade Aid Niki has set up an account with Trade Aid, if you are interested, please make sure you are on the purchasing list – email Niki if you are not on this list and would like to be, nikiharre@xtra.co.nz
6. Infinite Game Reminder that this is on April 6, 4.15 – 6.15 pm. To register go to www.infinite-game.net.
7. Community garden showcase Saturday April 14, 14 Erson Ave, Royal Oak, 10 – 12.30pm.
8. CSA scheme Ellen discussed a Tongan group that lease council land for growing. In order to pay the water bill they need to sell some produce. There may be kumara for sale if we could each take 5 – 10 kg each. It may also be a possibility for us to get involved in CSA with potato and garlic.
9. Transition Town There is a sense that individually we are doing a lot, and the community garden is a collective effort, but also a sense that we could be doing more. Ellen encouraged us to use the neighbour’s day event and apply for money to do an event on our individual streets in the last week of March.
