Minutes for Transition Towns Meeting Tuesday 8th July 2014

Apologies - Terry, Yolanda

Agendas discussed with brief description:

Alternative Holidays - Anne has offered to put together a database to record and share our holiday destinations that are affordable,

close and not necessarily thought of. Google docs could be used. Email her your latest holiday details to include.

EARTHDAY - 21st September . Check out Climate Change 350.org. Lets do something for it - but what????? Ideas welcome, email the

group :-)

Glad wrap alternative - Show and tell of Honey Wraps. They are an Auckland based company that uses lovely contemporary fabric

painted with a layer of beeswax and other delicious smelling ingredients designed to wrap sandwiches. They last a year or so, clean with

cold water. Purchase three for approx $22.00.

Point Chevalier Community Garden

Ally, Ellen and Cherry are courageously embracing the winter months by having regular get-togethers at the garden. A great time to catch

up while pulling a few weeds and harvesting rocket and kale. The latest acquisitions are macrocarpa edging which will transform the

garden, an abundance of seaweed courtesy of the latest storms and consequential hammering of Takapuna Beach and seed garlic yet to

be planted.

Unitec Development Proposal

Chris went to the recent meeting regarding the intensification of housing on the Unitec grounds. 150 people attended and so far there are

250 submissions against it. The impact of this will be enormous. Have your say by making a submissions by July 22nd online at

www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz or find out what Unitecs proposal is at www.documentcloud.org/documents/1197980-unitec.html
