An update from the Community Garden Group - April 2015

TT Pt Chev community garden group has responded to the generous call from the Bowling Club (25 Dignan Street) who is providing a half green (1000m2) for gardening. a soil test revealed that the soil is safe to garden and the group is now establishing a community garden hub beyond planting food.

A pizza oven, a banana circle, a greenhouse from recycled bottle, compost bins from repurposed pallets, bathtubs full of tiger worms, accessible raised garden and herb beds and play space amongst a fruit orchard, berry patches, and garden plots are in the making and dreaming.

If you want to be part of this or want to support the garden by becoming a "Friend of the garden" with a small financial contribution, come along on Thursday evenings from 4.30 onwards, contact us via this website or visit the Bowling Club for more information.

Big days at the new community garden (Bowling Club, 25 Dignan Street)

- Heidi leads the charge with the group of Ally, Sandra, Nakita, Charlotte and Ian for a banana circle.

- Bex, Ellen, Gloria from Spain, Andy from Ireland, creating the base insulation slab for the pizza oven

- Walter and Terry wheeling over a ton of clay,

- Walter and Logan "playing around" with the clay for the adobe part of the pizza oven, testing how much sand and clay for the best adobe mix. On many days we are helped by a group of 6-8 local kids who love to get involved and get their hands as dirty as ours.
