Workshop Notes - 1. Alternative Socio-Economic System (PROUT) July 2008

Three points from the discussion

1)    Capitalism is not working. ie the transition town movement is highlighting how we need to work together to address the challenges we are confronting. Capitalism promotes individualism and is not supportive of moving together.

2)    PROUT is about the application of family interaction such as caring for each other, applied to society.

3)    Need to decentralise economic power so that decision-making rests with local people.

Recommended outcome from the workshop - that there be a further in-depth seminar on the subject. I indicated that I would be willing to lead such a seminar.
