Workshop Notes - Homebuilding July 2008

Homebuilding; The group talked of the need to be aware of regulations making it increasingly difficult to actively build your own home.

Solutions suggested included setting up a homebuilders association to facilitate the legal responsibility. Using retired builders to oversee the building process.

There was comment on the need for high standards in building due to our earthquake risk in New Zealand and severe weather patterns.

Sourcing local materials was discussed and using low lifetime carbon footprint building methods. Also using non toxic preservatives.
