Getting ready to go
I am getting ready to turn off the tap on my email for a couple of weeks - actually divert it to someone who can read it and filter out anything that needs urgent attention. On Saturday I'm heading off from Waiheke, and have hired a car to drive down to the Hawkes Bay. This will be the first stop on a week long visit to some of the towns dotted across the lower North Island.
- Havelock North
- Whanganui
- Marton/Fielding
- Carterton
- Upper Hutt
- Lower Hutt
- Various Wellington groups
- Kapiti
Last night Scott and I got together to begin the process of organising the many photos which I have received over the last week from Transition Initiatives all over the country. We had a bit of fun and though it has been a rushed project (I wanted to take this with me to share with people at public meetings along the way), it is turning out to be quite good. It will get posted to youtube before too long.
I slipped out for a couple of hours while Scott beavered away, to attend a Transition Waiheke meeting. The main thig we agreed, was that we needed to launch a Transition Waiheke supported monthly calendar of events. It will highlight all the community building - resilience building intiatives which are taking place on the island. Because of the Big In Tent Festival coming up at the end of next month we are going to go for October as the first one.
We have Rob Hopkins lined up to come in on a live feed to this Festival. We also have live feeds from one of "The Yes Men" the captain of the Rainbow Warrior (from the bridge of the ship) and possibly George Monbiot.
This will be the Transition Waiheke unleashing event for Waiheke - just short of a year since it launched.
