Vote for sustainability in the AECT election
Submitted by chris.olson on 11 October 2012 - 7:51pm | updated 12 Oct 2012 | Local news
Hi Transition Towns peoples in Auckland,
I thought this message might be of interest to you all in relation to the AECT elections that are happening at the moment. AECT is the community trust that owns 74.5% of Vector, the Auckland electricity lines company.
Chris Olson, Grey Lynn 2030 trustee and coordinator of the Grey Lynn 2030 energy group, is standing as a candidate in the Auckland Energy Consumer Trust election on the YOUR POWER TEAM ticket. This is an exciting opportunity to bring a sustainability and resilience focus to the AECT. » Read more
Richard Heinberg Auckland Presentation
Submitted by chris.olson on 17 September 2012 - 10:26pm | Event
Richard Heinberg's quest for a more resilient, sustainable, and healthy future comes to New Zealand thanks to the Post Carbon Institute, Grey Lynn 2030 and Sustainable Business Network.
Richard will bring his challenging and compelling message. He'll ask — and answer — some of the most challenging questions we face:
• Will the convergence of financial instability, the end of cheap oil, and climate change usher in an era of contraction? » Read more

TTNZ Notice Board (on Facebook)
Submitted by James Samuel on 27 March 2012 - 5:40am | updated 27 Mar 2012 | Local newsFrom time to time someone asks if they can post a notice on this site, to advertise something. It might be a land deal, an upcoming event, or in the most recent case an off-the-grid house for rent.
Because of the enormous success of a Facebook group (Waiheke Trading), that was started in December and now has 1200 people on it, trading like crazy, I thought it was worth giving this a go for the Transition Towns community.
It's an experiment, and I've kicked it off with a nice 3-bedroom off-the-grid home in Kaitaia, that's being offered for rent. If you're interested, ave a look at the TTNZ Notice Board on Facebook. If you're interested and don't use Facebook, then ask a friend who does, to look it up and show you.
