Land share in Waikato

Hi there

My family, (2 kids 3&5yrs) are looking to move back to the Waikato sometime this year and are looking to build an earthship.  Would like to look at the possibility of a land sharing arrangment with like minded individuals/families.

We are supporters of 'The Venus Project' which holds most of TT values, so I thought this site would be a good place to start.

We are ready financially to do this in the middle of this year.

Look forward to any replies

G'day Marcus, My girlfriend &

G'day Marcus,

My girlfriend & I have similiar ideas. We are off to do an earthship internship in Taos this April.

We also follow TVP, I think a mix of TVP & earthship ideas would be an ideal world.

Only thing is, we wont have the money until probably late next year. We want to do it without a mortgage (as per zeitgeist recommendations :)

Where abouts in the waikato were you thinking? We haven't decided on a location yet, somewhere in the waikato or hawkes bay probably though.

Regards
Nathan

Nathan, the internship idea

Nathan, the internship idea sounds like a good one. Might look into that myself.

My wife likes the Morrinsville area, but it is quite expensive. I'm more interested in around Whata Whata - Pirongia - Raglan area myself. More wind, cheaper and closer to the ocean are my reasons. No mortgages is definitely the way to do this.

I hope we can keep in touch, who knows what lies in the future???

Land share in Taranaki

Hi folks,
From mid 2013 we will have land available to share in Taranaki, for people who wish to farm for a living: treecrops, rice, fish, vegetables, mushrooms, small animals, high value forestry, etc.

For folks who can't wait until then, there are 2-3 house sites that are available immediately. Plus we are looking for some people to live in our house and farm our small farm while we are in China for 12 months from the end of 2011.

It is a terraquaculture project so there will be no hard-hoofed free-range animals in the valley. To find out more about terraquaculture look at www.terraquaculture.net and www.greencloak.net. We will operate under a Community Land Trust basis.

If you are interested in more details, contact me on kamaburwell at iconz dot co dot nz.

Hi Kama,

Is your land share still happening? I'm looking for something in Taranaki from November 2014 onwards.

Cheers,

Andrew

A little further South...

Hi Guys,
Just a little further South ( ok, quite a bit) we are in the process of developing a village that you might be interested in. www.communitylandtrusts.co.nz.

We are very aware of the need to become self reliant - but we realise that this is best done with the village model of old times. We have moved to our land and will soon begin building - using light earth building techniques to create low impact, beautiful, safe warm homes that are well suited to the climate here. We will be building them ourselves, with guidance and help from an architect who is working with us.

We have chosen this land as it is ideal for a developing community who wish to be self reliant for food, water, power and (over time) most of our other needs also. We are consciously seeking to gather the people with skills who can make this a reality. The land we have chosen is not overpriced - so this means that the individual blocks for each family will be very affordable, and we are designating significant funds towards economic development and infrastructure - two key issues for us in this design.

I hope you take a moment to check out our website - we'd love to have you at our Hui, if you're interested in seeing what we're all about.

The project sounds really good.
You say the blocks will be affordable. Do you have a ballpark figure for the leases, and for what term they will be for?

So that if we wanted to be a part we could have a $ goal to work towards.

Cheers
Nathan
