The Koanga Institute is a registered charitable trust, dedicated to saving and rejuvenating our heritage seeds, and finding ways for home gardeners to grow Nutrient Dense food in a sustainable way. Our Internships will provide an amazing opportunity to learn alongside Kay Baxter other staff members, while supporting the important work of the Koanga Institute. The Institute is located within a developing village community, so there will be many opportunities to meet and work with interesting dedicated people who are passionate about creating a new model for sustainable, self reliant living in New Zealand.
Interns will be working in our Institute Seed gardens, over the intensive summer months alongside our Apprentices; Bridget and Api who are completing a Diploma in Sustainable, Nutrient Dense Food production.
This is a rare opportunity to learn, within a skilled and dedicated team. We are working with Biointensive Garden systems, and using Biological Agriculture techniques for Nutrient dense food production. Our research gardens are trialling methods of growing Nutrient Dense Food (and Seed) with maximum benefits to the soil.
