Winter Ready Roundhouse Build
Help build Jorgette a winter ready roundhouse with permaculture focused infrastructure.
Jorgette is moving into a 1/4 section of land with a few old trees and patch of brush. We are going to be building a reciprocating roof roundhouse what will be winter ready and a bit more permanent- with cob walls and a ranch slider.
We will be setting up infrastructure including compost toilet & solar shower that we will be building on thursday. Over the week we will also do a Permaculture design & build of water, solar, heating & growing systems.
DATES:
Thursday Mar 21 - 12:00pm- Arrival & set up camp
Friday Mar 22 - 9:00am - Welcoming words, briefing, site walk & welcoming of genius ideas.
Friday Mar 22 - Monday Mar 25 - we will be focused on getting the roundhouse built. Depending on how things go and how many people we have involved we will also be able to get some work done on some other projects (garden, water systems ect). People are welcome to stay on for the next week to do finishing touches.
ACCOMMODATION- Bring your own camping or limited beds will be available in a caravan and housetruck. 1 tent will also be available if necessary. There is also an option to stay in a house with power and town water a 10 min drive from the site.
FOOD- We will provide a healthy vegetarian breakfast, lunch & dinner.There will be a small fridge to use on site if you wish to bring your own perishable goodies. There will be a communal cooking space but bring your own cooking supplies if you want to cook.
BRING- work gloves, good footwear, sun protection, warm clothes (this weather changes very rapidly on site & it is very windy) rain gear (just incase) good vibes, musical instruments, your own plate, cup, bowl, a torch, Any local produce thats in abundance, spring water or any large water containers would be useful as we will have to transport water to site.
COST- $30/day to cover the cost of food and running camp.
There will be a compost toilet & solar shower
on site. We will also have access to a house
with power, water, internet & laundry
facilities if anyone needs it about 10 min
drive from the site.
The goal of this whole event is to do some teaching, building, learning and enjoying of of earth & its beautiful people. Together we can create a great example of how we can live sustainably & simply on the land, working towards a more sustainable future.
