Transition Hawke's Bay Steering Group

 

The purpose of the steering group is to facilitate the formation of new sub groups in topic areas, and to facilitate the formation of new local area groups. At the moment the group represents interest from Hastings, Havelock North, Napier and some CHB locations. In the longer term we hope to devolve to local groups - Transition Hawke's Bay is really just holding the space for a Transition Haumoana, Hastings or other area to get established as that is a better community level to work at.  » Read more

The food group meets at 17:00 on the first Tuesday of the month at the Hastings Environment Centre. Current topics under discussion are;

Napier Community Gardens (Herman Baarspul)

Farmers Market Co-op Stall (Andrew Seager)

Seed Bank (Aaron Duff)

Peak Oil for Food Industry Presentation (Marion Thomson)

Community Supported Agriculture Farm Visit (David Millin)

Transition Hawke's Bay - Survival Hawke's Bay inaugral meeting

What if our best laid transitioning plans take too long? This new subgroup looks at survival techniques for if peak oil hits suddenly, leaving us without infrastructure such as healthcare.  All welcome!

The TT initiative in the Bay kicked off with a community presentation by Jo Duff on 17th September 2007 as part of the Sustaining Hawke's Bay Trust's Speakers on Sustainability Series. Many of the 65 or so people present, including a number of councillors, signed up for interest groups and a first meeting of interested parties was scheduled. » Read more
