Taunton Terrace Community Garden

We are in the planning stages of the building of a community garden in Taunton Terrace, Blockhouse Bay, Auckland.

Working group organiser is Olwyn at growyourhealth@xtra.co.nz

We would welcome more interested local people to join our group for even more inspiration and enthusiasm.

CSP Roadshow - Next stop Tauranga

Steve Henry and Tom Walter from the Centre for Sustainable Practice, drove into Papakura on Sunday afternoon with their bio-diesel vehicle from Nomad Safaris and EECA sponsored solar trailer, to begin the national roadshow. They arrived just after a few of us had turned the first sods in a new Rosehill community garden.

10/10/10 Global climate working bee in Mt Eden Village - Updates

Here are some updates from the Mount Eden Village People:
The support from our community has been absolutely amazing. It really makes me so happy and proud to live in Mt Eden Village.

I recently put the posters up in our local shops and the response has been very positive. One of our local shops, the Essential Deli, has offered to donate the food for our working bees celebration on the day. Others are happy to come up with something for our treasure hunt and the raffle tickets (all food related, no stuff) and to collect vegetable leftovers for our compost bin workshop on the day. » Read more

Today's activity at the Community Garden

At one at the community garden today, Ellen, Deryn and Ally planted garlic (yay!) down by the older compost pile, and trimmed the greens off some of the kumara, and harvested some kumara (not very productive for the amount of greens, apparently.) These trimmings were put on the younger compost pile. E,D and A may have done more jobs too. » Read more
