10/10/10 Global climate working bee in Mt Eden Village - Updates

Mount Eden Village People's picture

Here are some updates from the Mount Eden Village People:
The support from our community has been absolutely amazing. It really makes me so happy and proud to live in Mt Eden Village.

I recently put the posters up in our local shops and the response has been very positive. One of our local shops, the Essential Deli, has offered to donate the food for our working bees celebration on the day. Others are happy to come up with something for our treasure hunt and the raffle tickets (all food related, no stuff) and to collect vegetable leftovers for our compost bin workshop on the day.

10/10/10 – food waste collection from the local shops- compost building- start the community garden-celebrating achievement

Everything that we use on this day has been donated or made out of recycled goods, the only new thing so far is gardening tools that we might sell to raise some money for our "fruit trees for Auckland" project.

Here are just some of the miracles that happened in the last week: free compost bin via twitter, free wood pallets for the garden from local companies, free printing from our local printer, free bike trailer for the day to pick up the vegetable leftovers, free buckets to collect the vegetable leftovers from our local shops, free time by passionate members of our group and people in the community.

Best wishes
